I was asked to create a logo for Six Four Longboards, a company that creates custom longboard skateboards by hand. The owner grew up skateboarding in the 60's and 70's back when skateboarding was an extension of surfing and was all about cruising and carving, so he wanted to evoke a classic vibe that was a reference to that pure form of skating. Simultaneously, Six Four wanted to appeal to a younger, edgier market. So, my solution was to come up with two different logos that could be used interchangeably...a more classic style logo that could also be contemporary based on it's use, as well as a more edgy modern logo which was based on the roman numerals for six and four which visually create a mirror image. In addition to developing the logos, I provided guidance on branding and branding application in terms of how the logo(s) could be applied to skate decks, t-shirts, etc.
